School Garden

Working with Cooperative Extension Educator Darcy Tessman, we have started a small school garden! We are using a straw bale gardening technique where we grow plants directly in the composted straw bales. Students have been collecting data on bale temperature as the bales have been composting, and now that seedlings have been planted, they are collecting data on plant growth. We look forward to expanding the garden over the summer during a 4H program.

Fifth graders teach kindergartners how to plant seedlings in the straw bales.
