I want to start by introducing myself. My name is Moiria White. I was born and raised on a beef cattle ranch in Northeastern Arizona. I attended college at the Colorado State University and graduated with a degree in Animal Science. After college, I worked on a couple ranches and had a variety of jobs until I found my passion for education. I begin in education as a special education teacher’s aide and then went on to get my teaching certificate. I taught Ag Education and Science at Willcox High School for 6 years until I was given an amazing opportunity to work for Riverview LLP at our Coronado Site here in Kansas Settlement.
Riverview is an agricultural partnership based out of Morris, Minnesota. We have an open-door policy and want to be involved as much as possible in our local communities. One of the most important goals of our organization is community outreach and education, especially focused on helping young people understand the importance of agriculture.
And the most exciting part of my work is collaborating with local schools. We have begun a special partnership with Ash Creek Elementary. I will be coming into the classroom once a week to teach the students about agriculture. Because I work in the industry and I have an education background, I hope to bring a unique and engaging energy to the classroom to get the 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students energized about the opportunities that Agriculture in Cochise County has to offer. I plan to work closely with Ms. Marvick and align my lessons with State Academic Standards in both Science and Math. We also plan to take as many field trips as possible to let these young people see and learn firsthand about the agricultural industry in and around our community.
